WHITELEY CHURCH.
SUNDAY SCHOOL ANNIVERSARY. A special feature of the Whiteley Sunday School anniversary was the music, consisting chiefly of hymns by the children, assisted by members of the church choir, Mr G. H. White conducted, Miss Olive Ambury presided at the piane, and Miss Cannell at the organ. An efficient orchestra assisted. The collections for the day amounted to eleven guineas. On Wednesday evening the pimual children's concert was held. Mr C. Carter (superintendent of the Sunday School) presided, and. gave a general review of the work of the school. The secretary (Mr S. Foot) and treasurer (Mr F. .W. Okey) presented their reports, both being highly satisfactory. The Rev. A. B. Chappell gave an address and presented the prizes won by the scholars on the year's work. The following items were contributed to the programme:—Pianoforte duet, Ivy and Fred Butler; recitation, Dorothy White; recitation, Vera Black; chorus, "We are Fishers," a group of boys; recitation, Eva Hogg; pianoforte duet, Claude and Harold Morey; recitation, Bob Pascoe; dialogue, "Days of the Week." seven girls; song, Mona Danks; recitation, Ruby Aitken; chorus, "Fan Drill," a group of girls. The prize list was as follows: Girls' Classes.—Edna White, 100 per cent., Winnie Short 96, Ethel Rudd 90, Elsie Hooker 78, Dorothy White 75, Enid White 100, Tracy Carter 97, Loie Short 97, Nellie Wall 83, Myrtle Sheppard 80, Gwen Blanchett 77, Ruby Aitken 99}, Edna Wilson 91, Pearl Horsup 90, Eva Hogg 80, Esma Whitham 76, Margaret Healy 91, Dorothy Smaill 91, Edna Bui- ! lot 83. j Boys' Classes—Norman Bellringer 95, Leonard Sole 85, Sydney White 08, Leonard Hughes 95, William Short 05, Sydney Hayden 86, Wrexham Hughes 86, Kenneth West 100, Lance Frethey 100, Robert Pascoe 98, Godfrey Sole 93, Bertie Boon 85, Bernard. Hollard 83, Eric White 99, Fred Butler 98, Harold Morey 97, Bert Plumtree 82. In the lowest (mixed) class of the main school, the following won prizes in order of merit:—Fred Horsup, Rugby Wil6on, Vera Black, Mavis Mawkes, Edward Bullot, Ivy Butler. Besides these, a large number of awards were made to scholars in th« primary department of the school. A unique item at the close of the meeting was the carrying, by the standing of the teachers and scholars, of a resolution of greeting to be sent to the school's secretary, Mr. W. P. Okey, who is with the Expeditionary Force in *'gypt. , Thanks to Mr Carter for his work as superintendent, and to all who had worked to make the anniversary a success, were accorded by acclamation, and the gathering closed with the National Anthem.
