ENTERTAINMENTS.
ROYAL PICTURES. At the Royal to-morrow, a splendid programme lias been secured and will be introduced at the matinee at 2.30. The star feature is Kalem'9 latest and best production, "Quicksands." The plot is a thrilling one and gives one an excellent idea of the treacherous quicksands. A grand supporting .programme supports the star, fuller particulars of which are in Saturday's Daily News.
EMPIRE THEATRE.
Last night at the Empire a largo audience was present to witness the new programme presented. Pride of place ia taken by "When Lions Escape" a Gauniont star feature. The story deals witli a man's jealousy who exercises his hypnotic power and lias his victim's life destroyed by lions. After many exciting incidents, he himself meets the death he had planned for another. "Her Second Shot" is a fine drama by the A.K. Company, and is very appealing, "Two Merchants," (Edison), "Any Port in a Storm" (Vitagraph), and "Fleeing from the Fleas," (Kalem) are three grand comedies, and were immensely enjoyed. "The "Australian Gazette," contained the latest Australian news, "Among the Gorges of Colorado" is a beautiful scenic. It features the remarkable mountains and ravines of the West. During the evening the election results were screened aud caused a good deal of excitement. This programme ia to bo shown' finally tonight.
