AUSTRIA EXHIBITS ALARM. PREPARATIONS AGAINST ITALY. INTRIQUE IN TRIPOLI. Romp, December 0. A 1 Milan message states that advices have been received from the Austrian frontier that the statement- of Signor Salandra on Italy's attitude is responsible for considerable military activity in Austria. On Friday night the railways poured troops into different places along the Italian border and Pola. It is estimated that twenty thousand troops are stationed on the frontier and a hundred thousands at Pola. Anti-Italian manifestations occurred in several places. Hungarian soldiers spat at the Italian workmen without rebuke from their officers, Other Italian workmen were disabled.
The Belgian stamer Roi Leopold had a surprising reception at -Savona (near Genoa). All work was stopped and the population proceeded to the port waving hats and handkerchiefs.
