MR. HERMES 'AT WAIHI. A GOOD MEETIXG. By Telegraph.—Per Press Association. " 'Waihi, December !). The Hon. Mr. Herries addressed a large meeting last night. His speech was on the lines of his previous addresses, and was punctuated with fre/pient applause. A vote of thanks and confidence in the Government was carried unanimously.
THE BRIBERY ADMITTED. DISCLAIMED BY MR. PARR. Auckland, December 9. A sensation was caused by the circulation of a document, purporting to disclose an oiler made in writing by the s£cretars of Mr. Parr's committee in Eden electorate to Mr. Wesley Richards, one of two Liberal-Labor candidates, of £IOO, conditionally on Richards going to the poll. In to-night's Star Mr. Parr publishes ihc following advertisement:—"l am infirmed tint yesterday, while I wa=i absent at Cambridge attending the funeral <A my sister, <? W. Harris made a ligncd ofier to Mr. Wesley Richards concl.t'onal on his going to the poll. I desire most emphatically to say this offer was made during my absence from town, without my knowledge, sanction, or authority. I utterly repudiate the transaction, and all or any connection with it. C. W. Harris is no longer secretary of my committee."
