READ LORD KITCHENER'S SISTER'S LETTER.
THEN DECIDE WHO MISREPRESENTS KITCHENER. A SOBER ARMY. (To the Editor.) Sir,—Yesterday, my brother, Lord Kitchener made an appeal to the public , asking that all who desire the efficiency I and well-being of our troops would refrain from treating them to "drinks" or setting temptation before them. I quote from his words: The men who have recently joined the colours are doing their utmost to prcpara themselves for actiw service with the least possible delav. this result can only be achieved "if by hard work and strict sobriety they keep themselves thoroughly fit and healthy. Lord Kitchener appeals to the public, both men and women, to help the soldiers in their task. May I, as his sister, supplement this appeal by asking the m themseh" whether they will or will not, during the period of the war, abstain from all in
. I think that I am right in savins that in .10 way could they give my bother I truer proof of their" loyalty to, wishes than by making this promise May I also suggest that if the same pl dge were taken by those left behind then the men who have rallied to the colours would be linked to their wive parents, and families at home by a boni which would be for the good of all (Signed) FRANCIS E. J. PARKER, Alexandra Club, 12 Grosvenor Street ti.a «n -i v October 27th. 1 lie Daily News and Leader." October 28th, 1014 (page 4.)*
