Pahiatua, Yesterday. A public mooting to assist" the authorities in the recruiting movement was addressed by Major l Crewe and Captain Clifton. Several recruits enrolled. It was decided to hold a patriotic demonstration on election night, also to organise entertainments in order to accelerate recruiting. The defence authorities will be asked to remove restrictions from reporting the doings pnd movements of the men in camp. The meeting was enthusiastic and cheered the recruits. FLOUR FOR NEW PLYMOUTH. In reply to representations made to the Premier, Mr Okey received a telegram from Mr Massey on Monday asking him what quantity of flour is likely to be required by local bakers during the next month. In reply, Mr Okey wired that 200 tons would be required by the district supplied by local merchants and that if no supplies were received before the 19th inst., somo of the bakers must close down. Mr Massey telegraphed yesterday:—"l am arranging to send 100 tons of flour to New Plymouth; spread over three to four weeks, first delivery on Monday, 14th.
