THE OIL INDUSTRY.
' TI-IE LIBERAL ATTITUDE. At Inglewood last night Mr. D. J. Hughes, the Liberal candidate, read a wire from Sir Joseph Ward, to the effect that, if returned to power, the Liberal party will give all reasonable assistance to enable oil-boring to be effectively carried out. (Mr. Hughes declared in favor of nationalising the industry, and_ going about it systematically and comprehensively. To that end he would work tooth anil nail, knowing what the successful exploitation of the industry meant to the district, and New Zealand as a whole.
