.... THE WAIPAWA SEAT. By Telegraph.—Per Press Association. Waipawa, December 7. Mr. G: Hunter, Government candidate, addressed a well-attended meeting on Saturday on the lines of former addresses. He also stated that Mr. WiHord had retracted the statement that the Government had not placed a settler on the land as the result of its own policy. A vote of thanks and confidence was passed. MR D. J. HUGHES AT OKATO. Mr Hushes, the Liberal candidate, addressed his second meeting at Okato last night. The rain interfered with the attendance, about twenty being present. Mr B. T. Booker presided. A vote of thanks to the speaker was carried. One of the electors, while disagreeing with . the speaker, paid him the compliment of saying lie was the most straightforward and caustic critic yet heard in Okato. This morning, at 7.30, Mr Hughes speaks at Hillsborough, and be; holds a meeting at the railway goods sheds during the way, afterwards going to Ingle-'' I wood, where he will address the electors. MR OKi:Y AT ALBERT EOAD. Mr Okey had a well attended and-en-thusiastic' meeting here on Saturday night. His address was on similar lines to those, already published, and at the close several question were' asked and satisfactorily replied to. Mr Okey had the meeting with him from the start, and after the questions were disposed of, r,n the motion of Mr T. B v Hall, seconded by Mr W. Orr, was accorded a vote of thanks and confidence, to which was add-< oil confidence in the Massey Government* The usual vote of thanks to the chairman, Mr J. Hall, sen., concluded the meeting, which separated amidst cheers four our past and future member of the' Government. The country districts ate quite confident that Mr Okey will largely! increase his majority over that of last election.
