————— *B—~ A RESIDENCE DESTROYED. By Telegraph.—Per Press Association. Dunedin, Last Night. What is said to be the most serious bush fire known in the district broke out at Wliare Flat this morning, and continued to rage r.ll day. At one time the local .school was in danger, and some difficulty wa3 experienced in getting the children away. Residents of the neighbourhood, assisted by the corporation men, saved the teacher's residence, but a five-roomed residence, owned by Mrs Glendining, of Roslyn, and used as a week-end residence, was destroyed, '.'he house was insured in the National office for £IOO, and the furniture in the same office for a similar amount. Mrs Clendining estimates her loss at about £4OO. Late to-night, the fire w;u travelling in the direction of Waitaki.
