NEW PLYMOUTH HIDE, SKIN, WOOL AND TALLOW SALES.
L. A. Nolan and Co. report as follows: )ur sale for this month of the above ventuated in our Gill street store on Tuesday last, the 24th inst. We offered , rather larger all-round catalogue than lsual. Included also were 78 bales new season's clip of wool. Competition was :een and well sustained throughout. Wool offered realised full market rates. 3oarse and medium showed a rise of juite l%d to l%a on best prices obtained last year. Fine wools in some instances showed same rise. In the case }f 3hort Btaple fine wools, such as Down, last season's prices were fully maintained, Mjfhieh was not expected. Sheepskins maintained recent high levels, B%d, B%d, 9d, being the order of the day for butchers' lines of good stuff, two separate line 3 making the latter price. Hides and calfskins realised last month's rates, Special lines of good ox realised up to 9gd and lOd, best calves made Is Id, specials to la 2d per lb. Tallow sold at about last months' rates for similar quality. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency, Co., Ltd., report as follows: — On Tuesday, December 1, we held our usual fortnightly sale in our Strat 7 ford yards, when there was a fair yarding, bidding was spirited, prices were good and most lines were disposed of at very full values, particularly store cows: Forward cows, £0 12s to €7 16s; fat cows, £8 2s to £8 8s; store cows, small and lean, £4 to £4 8s; medium, £5 2s to £5 13s; fair quality, £o 15s to £6 i sb; 15 months heifers, 42s for small, 44s for medium to '6os for good; bulls, yearlings, from £3 to £5 7s Cd; tinners, up to £ 10 17s 6d. We had a large entry in our dairy yards, bidding was good and a clearance of most lines was effected at advanced values. Good heifers, showing quality made from £7 to £lO 15s; for smaller stuff, £4 15s to £6 10s; heifers, calved, from £5 to £8 2s (id; cows, up to £S 10s.
During the week we have disposed of a fair amount of stock privately:— Store cows, small, £4 15s; medium, £5 8s; good, up to £(!; shorn store ewes, 15s 3d to 15s 6d; forward ewes, 16s to 10a 9d; two-tooth wethers, 15s 6d to 16a; mixed two-tootli ewes and wethers 15s 9d; 15 months heifers, 44s 6d to 50s.
