ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
"Cfc A DUNEDIN SUICIDE. By Telegraph.—Per Press Association. 'Dunedin, December 4. John Hancock, aged 25, the son of J. H. Hancock, St. Clair, shot himself this .morning, death being instantaneous. He had been in ill-health. KILLED IN THE BUSH. Gisborne, December 4. Alfred Bachelor, aged 55, a married man, was killed in the bush by a tree falling back on him. At the inquest a verdict of accidental death was returned. SUICIDE BY SHOOTING. Dunodin, Last 'Night. An inquest was held this faternoon on the body of John Hanoock. The evidence showed that deceased had suffered from influenza latterly and had complain,il of liver trouble, which caused him to be depressed at times. He ' was at a friend's house last night and appeared in Ms usual spirits. The coroner found that death was due to a gounshot wound in the head, self-in-flicted, while deceased was in a temporary stats of insanity.
