AN EXPLANATION WANTED.
To the Editor, Sir, —I Bee in you issue of this morning, Mr Okey, in his speech at the Theatre Koyal on Wednesday evening, made the following statement:— "There were men on the High School ' Board who would rather that -New Plymouth should not have its Girls' High i, School that it should come ; through him." " This Statement) as it stands is a reflection on all the members of the Board, and I would ask Mr Okey either Ito substantiate this astounding statesmcnt and name such individual or indii viduals or publicly withdraw the statement and apologise for having made it. As a member of the Board, I have taken a very keen interest in' all matters concerning the schools, and I state most emphatically that I know of no such individual, 'jior do I believe such an individual exists except in Mr Okey's fervid imagination.—l am, etc., 1 ' W.
