Italy's Position.
THE GERMAN NET SPREAD. BAITED WITH TUNIS. ITALY'S EYES OPENED. Received 3, 9.25 p.m. LONDON, December 3. The Standard publishes a dispatch from Rome stating that the German Government had not despaired of seeing Italy take the well baited hook. The Italian papers declare that it will need more to draw Italy into the net than, the latest snare. An article in 'the Deusche Tagezeitang invites Italy to step in and take Tunis ncv,- the chance offers. It points out that Turkish, Austria and Italian navies can easily prove a match for the Anglo-French warships in the Mediterranean, ai:d that energetic action wou'd result in the quasi-automatic acquisition of Tunis, which would be legitimate by the predominance of Italians there. The article adds: "A little reflection must convince Italy that all she needs is decision to do and dare." Italian papers claim that the article was directly inspired by the German Foreign Office.
