THE NEW PLYMOUTH COMMITTEE. A meeting of the New Plymouth Patriotic and Relief Committee was held yesterday, the Mayor (Mr J. E. Wilson) presiding. The Ngamotu Beautifying and Improvement Committee wrote, intimating that they were celebrating their opening by a monster picnic on New Year's Day, and devoting half the proceeds to the Poor in Britain and Belgium Relief Funds, and ollering the afternoon tea booth to . any ladies who cared to run it, the proceeds of which could be devoted to the relief fund. It was mentioned that Wanganui had recently conducted tlie afternoon tea at the show in aid of the relief fund, and secured a considerable amount.—lt was decided to ask the Mayoress to call a meeting of ladies to consider the question. Mr. George Tabor intimated that the sports chilis of the town would, lie thought, he prepared to organise and carry out a sports carnival in aid of the Relief Fund.—The Mayor is to see Mr. Tabor, and take whatever action_ he deems necessary.
