j THUEE LAWYERS ARRESTED. I The vigilance of the guard at l<Vt ' Kelbum (Ngahauranga.) resulted in the arrest the other day of three well-known } Wellington solicitors, who were subsei quently released with the hint that they II "may hear more of it." They were ■! -Messrs Gmy, K.C., Blair, and Becre, { and, with three clients, they had pro--1 cecdcd to Ngahauranga tlo inspect property which will be the subject of litigation in the Supreme Court to-morrow. They were endeavouring to arrange a settlement and went round the different! pegs just above the forts. After that, they seated themselves on the grass and ■commenced I|o examine the flails. ISe'fore they quite knew what had hap- ' pened, they were surrounded by :i guard and further observations showed ' that i/he 'hill was dotted witih. soldiers. Men in khaki were also stationed on tile 'road below, thus cutting off their retreat.
The officer in charge of the guard informed the solicitors that they were launder arrest, but! they only smsled, thinking the whole affair a joke. They were quietly informed that it was no joking matter and their names were demanded. As lie heard them, an incredmlous smile came over the officer's face, lnit he accepted the uamas, took full particulars, and allowed counsel to proceed on their way, with the dark hint already mentioned.
