WEARING DOWN THE REBELS. Pretoria, November 20. Official.—Tiie rebels have made numerous and unsuccessful attempts to derail armoured trains on the Reite--1 rankfort line. There have been brisk engagements and a number of rebels have been killed of wounded. Of De Wet's three generals only Rantenbach remains. Roceo and Do Villiers have surrendered and Nicolass and Serfontein have been wounded.
REBEL'S DESPERATE TRICK. DE WET IN A SAVAGE MOOD. "' Received 29, 5.10 p.m. Johannesburg, November 28. During the fighting at Mushroom Valley, a uniformed man rode up to Commander Brand and pointed to Botha's commando, whom he declared were rebels. One of Brand's men recognised the stranger as Vauniekirk, a rebel leader, whereupon the Loyalists shot him dead.
When at W>nburg, De Wet, in a temper, knocked shop assistants about because they had ho petrol. A brother rebel prevented him from burning the store. De Wet desperately assaulted the Mayor, accusing him of killing his son Daniel.
