Xlie Holmdale, of the Maoriland Shipping Co.'s fleet, put into port for shelter on Friday evening while bound from Ksiipara to Greymouth. After reaching Cape Egmont the conditions were so severe that the captain considered it advisable to turn back and seek shelter under the lee of the New Plymouth breakwater, where she waited till the weather moderated.
