AFTERNOON TEA. Last Monday, Miss Wade gave a most enjoyable "Kitchen Afternoon," in honour of Miss Kyngdon, whose marriage, is to take place shortly. During the afternoon, musical items were rendered by Misses C. Douglas, Wade, C. Leatham, Hirst, N. Thomson, Blundell, and Armstrong. Miss Wade received her guests in a dainty white shower-hail muslin frock, deftly trimmed with pale blue silk. Miss Kyngdon was in a paisley coloured voile, with cerise striped silk belt, purple hat, trimmed with ribbon and tiny cerise roses.

A very jolly afternoon tea was given by Mrs Denny-Brown last Tuesday, as a welcome to the Misses Leatham, and 'also a farewell to Miss Kyngdon. Bridge was played in "the den." and the competition was held in the drawingroom and resulted in Mrs E. P. Fenton winning the prize. During the afternoon, Miss Leatham played several charming pianoforte solos, and Miss Richards also sang. HORTICULTURAL SHOW. The annual Spring Flower, Show, held conjointly in the Good Templar and Wliiteley Halls though held in showery and uncertain weather, was a great success. The halls looked most attractive with their large displays of blossoms and pot plants. The decorated tables were much admired, the bridal ones being a distinct feature.
