The men explain that using safety lamps, and handicapped by the new system of Wasting, it is net possible ta make a living wage under tho terms of tie existing agreement. Thiey cliaim also that the union which waa party to this agreement was a union of only a posse, whereas the union now includes tibie main body of the miners. The scale •proposed by the union provides for a general increase all round ,with provision for a sliding scale in different bords;
