Tho depredations of weasels have militated against tho success of tlio South Canterbury Acclimatisation Society's efforts to rear ducks this season. Tho ranger at Temuka (Mr Leekie) reports that he would have had mora young ducks but for the damage done by tho weasels, which have been robbing the ducks' nests in a wholesale, manner. If weasels are as destructive elsewhere as they have been at Temuka reserve this season native or imported frame will have very little chance of multiplying. There is already sufficient evidence against the weasel to justify the most stringent steps for its eradication. Mr. Leekie has trapped fourteen weasels on the.
