RAILWAY APPEAL BOARD.
DUNEDIN APPEALS. Dunedin, November 25. A sitting of the Railway Appeal Board was held tliis morning. ''Mr W. R. Haselden, S.M., presided, and had with him Mr W. 0. Ennis (representing the first division), and Mr P. Gaines (representing the second division). The first appeal was that of Signalman E. N. Sandys, who appealed against Iris reduction to guard for twelve months, as the result of a fatal engine accident near Ovcrbridge. The facts were that Sandys put the signals at "clear" when ,t\vo engines were actually in collision. Sandys, in the course of' his evidence, stated that it was not till four months after the collision occurred that he was .notified that he was to be punished, and that he was in charge of the signal-box four months after the accident oci curred. Decision was reserved. I George Andrews, senr., clerk, of Oamaj ru, appealed against the decision of the manager in refusing to recommend him I for promotion. Mr Waite, traffic manager, said he could not recommend appellant for .promotion to a higher grade. Decision was reserved.
