fN POLAND. THE GERMANS FLEE. Paris, November 24. The Matin's Petrograd correspondent reports that after repulsing the counterattacks of the l'lock-Lcczvca line, the Russians gained a brilliant and decisive victory, the Germans fleeing towards the Prussian frontier, and the Russians closely pursuing. 'Petrograd, November 24. The Austrians recently withdrew from the outer forts at Przemysl. The Russians, suspecting a ruse, drove cattle towards the forts. The cattle were blown to bits, owing to their treading on mines. Washington, November 24. Tha State department reports that German bombs fell outside the American Consulate at Warsaw, indicating that the (lermans with Zeppelins are in close proximity to that city. Several persons were killed in front of the Consulate, but the Americans were uninjured.
GREAT BATTLE PROCEEDING. DEVELOPING SUCCESSFULLY. GREAT LOSS OF GERMANS. Received 25, 11.30 p.m. Petrograd, November 24. Official.—The battle of Lo<iy was continued. Russian cavalry at one point attacked the retreating Germans, inflicting great loss and capturing heavy guns. The battle on the Czenotochowa-Cra-cow line is developing successfully for the Russians. We took six thousand prisoners on Sunday and repulsed coun-ter-attacks.
AUSTRIAN ATTACK WEAKENED. GERMANY NOT TOUTING FOR PEACE. Received 25, 10.50 p.m. Rome, November 24. The press states that the attack of the Austrian army in Galicia has weakened, the troops being depressed and discouraged, and unable to resist the. Russians without the assistance of Germany. German papers strenuously repudiate the idea that Germany is touting for peaee, maintaining that the. political and military situations are wholly in favour of the Germans.
