MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Taranaki Land Board was held yesterday. Present: Mr. G. H. Bullard, Crown Lands Commissioner (in the chair), and Messrs. W. W. Jones, A. Coxhead, and C. J. Ryan. APPLICATIONS APPROVED. 1 Applications were approved as follows: Section 30, Block 11., Piopiotea West S.D., under 0.R.P.: Egbert E. Mills (only applicant). Section 4, Block XVI., Ohura S.P., under 0.R.1'.: Charles J. Powick. Section 15, Block 11., Piopiotea West S.D., under 0.R.P.: Charles Hawkless. Section 6, Block XVI, Upper Waitara S.D., 570 acres: W. H. Partridge, at minimum annual rental, £l4 10s. Section 1, Okato Town Belt, 5s 7d.: Robert Roebuck, at minimum annual rental, £5. C. G. Munro, application under O.R.P. for section 1, Block VIII., Totoro S.D., 840 acres; only applicant.
! RANGER'S REPORT. Ranger Meredith reported on R.L. Section 5, Block IV., Kapara S.D., 400 acres, C. A. Duffy. Lessee asked, and was granted, an extension of time in which to make good the deficiency, having lost the assistance of his son, who has joined the Expeditionary Force. Grown Lands Ranger Meredith forwarded a report on C.R.P., Section 3, Block VIII., Omoana S.D., selected by .E. P. Gould oil 15th January, 1007. Licensee asked, and was granted, and extension of time in which to complete required improvements. Crown Lands Ranger Tolme reported non-residence on C.R.P., Section 21. Block XI., Mapara S.D., selected by Mrs. Annie Shivnan on 17th December, l!) 72. —Licensee forwarded a medical certificate, and applied for leaveoor. r absence from the land for a period.—Exemption granted until December, provided Mrs. Shivnan attends to the uAeep of the improvements. The Receiver of Land Revenue submitted a statement of Crown tenants in arrears with rental payments, consideration of which was deferred at the Board meeting at Taumarumii on 7th inst.—lt was resolved to send final notice to defaulters. Catrina Maria Snow, lessee of P.H. L.T.I'., Section 27, Block XV., Xgatimani S.D., applied for an extension of time to complete the purchase, of the fee simple of the land. —Granted, provided the transaction is completed not later than 31st December, 1914. It.was proposed to authorise the appointment of the Chief Clerk (Mr. W. J. Munro) to conduct auction sales on behalf of the Board, as occasion arises, in terms of sub-section d, section .07, of the Land Act, 100 S. Schedule of proposals for expenditure of "thirds" by Road Board were approved, the ranger having certified as to correctness.

GENERAL. Approval was given to several mortgagees of holdings under the Education Reserves Act and Land for Settlement conditions. The Board decided to recommend the postponement of collection of rent for twelve months in the case of a selector who had met losses through death. Jno. 11. Lyon applied for a temporary lease, of about a quarter acre part of Section 2, Block 11., Rangi S.D.—Approved. J. W. and A.P. and J. Barnes, Section 2, Block 111., Opaku S.D. 1120 acres, applied to acquire Section 7, Block VIII., Opaku S.D., 20 acres marked "reserve." — Approved. Messrs Simson Bros., licensees of Section 11, Block IV., Clandon Settlement (116 acres) whose holding was forfeited . for non-residence by the Board on 7th inst., applied for a re-hearing in terms of Section 52 of the Land Act.—Resolved to rescind the resolution of forfeiture dated 7th inst., provided lessees apply to transfer the holding outright to the present occupier at a reasonable consideration. The Board adjourned at 12 noon.
