KAPOXGA. , < ?" r Ow.t Correspondent.) Mr Wilkinson was here on Fridav evening About 150 persons were preTnwn n n E ' B< - !f i tS (e,mirma " of tile Town Board) presided. Mr Wilkinson's address was on the same lines as his previous speeches elsewhere. He touched upon the principal reforms the Government had passed since taking ofliee and claimed that liis party were givin" a straight-out deal, and had not broken any pledges.

f occasional interjections, and were taken m good part by the speaker, but the attitude of the chairman towards some members of the audience occasioned not a little resentment. ,\ou own is of opinion that he should be a little more tolerant and fair-mind-ed when presiding at such meetings. At the close of the address a good few questions were asked, and satisfactorily answered by the candidate, an enthusiastic meeting being brought to a close by according Mr Wilkinson a hearty vote of thanks.

AUROA. - Mr Wilkinson, tlie Reform candidate -gave a political address last Monday , night, when over one lmndred electors •were present. The address was on the same line sas previously given at other .centres. At the conclusion he was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for his address and of confidence in the Massey administration. The meeting was the most enthusiastic held here for years v 'the Tennis and Bowling Clubs held -their opening last Wednesday, and proved to be a red-letter day for Auroa. " . . mai " feature was the number of visitors present from neighboring clubs -testifying to the popularity of the sport. •,Alr 'Poole, the president, in a few wellselected words, extended a hearty welcome to the visitors, and then declared the greens open for play. The ladies provided afternoon tea, in their usual style. At tho conclusion, Mr Dudley of Opunake, thanked the Auroa folk' on behalf of the visitors for the cordial reception. Mr Buxton suitably responded, thanking the visitors for coming along, as it not only encouraged members of the club, but helped to raisee litliuslasm in the district. Cheers for the ladies, the, club, and the visitors brought a notable, day to a close. A social was held m the evening, when about 40 couples were present, and spent a most enjoyable time. iMcCurtv's orchestra, Kaponga, supplied the music, which was excellent. The Egmont Show is the attraction tins week. Our local exhibitors, Messrs Tait, Johnstone, and Rawclifl'e, are confident of securing their share of honors A rumor is afloat that the Otakeho supporters of the Opposition are not going to give tho Reform candidate a hearing next Wednesday. If such a state of things is being brought about, it it a pity the gentlemen cannot find a better way of displaying their ignorance. Jf they cannot be. fair and reasonable, tliey should stay awav altogether. Thev would remember that only the foolish will not listen to both sides of the onestion. 1 A tennis match is being arranged in the near future between the liawera club and Auroa. Auroa has a quartette | which will bo hard to beat. All the , same, members should get as much practice as possible. Ihe residents of this district were all , very pleased when news came through c from Blenheim that Mr Cruickshank's \ "Lady Sefton" had won the Ladies' , Bracelet at the Marlborough Trotting ( meeting. She put up a fair perform- j ance, for only being in work 'three . months and Mr 0. Jones, of Manaia, , showed, great judgent to take her all c the way. While not wanting my name expos- ( ed as correspondent, there is one gentle- s man in Auroa who would very much r like, to see it advertised to satisfy the f "I know" part of the community, as <, they are occasionally giving him a bit f of a touch. v
