NEWS FROM NAURU. I THE BLAND UNDER QONTROL. Received. 245, 12.25 a.m. / Sydney, November 23. The Messina arrived from Nauru, conveying twenty-five German prisoners, ! who participated in the affair cabled on September Sth. The captain reports ' that lie witnessed the hoisting of the British flags at Nauru, and the troops now have the island under control, and everything is working smoothly. MOTORISTS FIRED ON. Sydney, November 23. Two nii'ii who were driving a motorcar at ilona Vale, near Manly, failed to obey the sentry, who fired, wounding both, but not seriously. STRIKE IN NAVAL DOCKYARDS. Received 23, 9.40 p.m. Sydney, November 23. Industrial trouble has arisen in the Government dockyards at Cockatoo and Garden Islands. The carpenters, joiners, plumbers, and shipwrights ceased work on Friday, and have not returned since. The dispute is the outcome of overtime pay in connection with tj>e war.
