The Administrator of Papua reports a serious conflict between a patrol anil a party of natives, resulting in seven natives being killed. While en route to investigate the murders in the Cukila district, Mr Chinnery, assistant resident magistrate, with a force of native police, collided with a hostile tribe in the liigo district. The natives opposed Mr Chinnery's entrance to a stockaded village and threw spears. The police iired two volleys and drove out the natives. Mr Chinnery was informed that six out of seven of the killed had participated in the Cokila massacres.
