RIFLE SHOOTING.
IMPERIAL CHALLENGE SHIELD. HIGH SCHOOL SUCCESS. A cable gram has been received by Mr H. Moves, principal of the New Plymouth High School, to the effect that the junior team from the school in the Imperial Challenge Shield Competition, open to schools of the Empire, secured seventh place, and won £3. The senior team were thirty-third in their competition, and won £2. This shield was presented by Colonel Schumacher, a South African officer, for competition among the Empire schools, the shooting being done on miniature rifles ranges. The seniors fired 10 rapid and 10 slow shots, and tile juniors 20 slow shots. The school has again made a most creditable showing, and the boys and their instructors are to be heartily congratulated.
