EMPIRE PICTURES. "The Pepper-box Inn Tragedy," Eclairt star drama, was presented last night for the first time. Mons Lecoq, the famous French detective, lias a most thrilling chase after a gang of blackmailers who are the terrors of the Duchess de Suirmeuse. The Duchess has a brother who is a convict, and she endavours to keep his existence a secret from her husband. Tho blackmailers are aware of this, and demand 25,000 francs to be paid at the Pepper-box inn. From there on the story is a most exciting one. The other films well support the star. The programme will be screened finally to-night. To-morrow, "Hincmoa," the most beautiful of all Maori legends, will be shown. Matine at 2.30.

THEATRE ROYAL PICTURES. To-morrow the big war specials will be shown. "Europe in Peace and at War," the second, "Entry of Germans into Brussels," several scenes of the enemy's cavalry, infantry, artillery, and transports, etc., the third, a special, "War Budget," showing the famous "London Scottish" on the march. The star filmi is Lubin's "When Conscience Calls," featuring the awakening of a scoundrel's conscience. Chairs may be reserved by ringing phone 365. Tho "German entry into Brussels," will bo shown only at the evening session.
