BREACH OF PROMISE.
SENSATIONAL EVIDENCE. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 1!), 11.20 p.m. Sydney, November If). Annie Rice obtained a verdict of a hundred pounds against James Lloyd for breach of promise. Evidence for tho plaintiff was to the effect that Lloyd, after formally becoming engaged, arranged to marry anotlher girl. -Plaintiff's sister objected to the marriage, and the officiating clergyman stopped the ceremony. Ad herents of the two parties were present in strong force and created a scene, the .police being called in and the church cleared. The officiating clergyman gave evidence that the verger told him the people inside and outside of the church were armed with revolvers. He quietened and secured the dispersal of the parties. It was the most dreadful occurrence. Lloyd, who has since been married, denied - idle promise to marry Rice.
