WOMAN'S WORLD.
THE CITIZENS' BALL. The Citizens' Ball held in the Coronaj tion Hall, last Friday night, in aid of 3 the poor in Britain and Ireland and Belgium Relief Fund, proved an unqualified success. Pungas and flags were hung everywhere along the build- ] ing. At the north end, the orchestra were stationed on a stage, while the ' southern end was arranged as a draw-ing-room for the lookers-on. The balcony was arranged with tiny tables for • the bridge players, and the annexes were used for euchre, supper, and dresf sing rooms. " The bridge prizes were won by Mrs Q. l > E. Baker, Mrs Bolus, Mrs Heard, and ■" Mrs Drew and Mr Plumtroe; while the > euchre prizes went to Mrs J. J. Staples, Mrs F. T. Bellringer, Mrs Beattie, Miss " Devcnish, and Mr R. Paul. • A feature of the evening was the • splendid music provided by Mr Van " Heck's orchestra, which consisted of s twelve instruments. 0 To Mr Hugh Baily as secretary, Y special praise must be given, as also ■ to the ladies' committee, who were: — • 'ins Mayoress (Mrs J. Miss Treeby, pale blue satin, trimmed with cream lace. WEDDING BELLS. EITZHERBERT—CBILWELL.
In St. Mary's Church, New Plymouth, yesterday afternoon, Miss Louis M. Fitzherbcrt, second daughter 'of the late Mr. H. E. Fitzherbert, was united in the holy bonds of matrimony to Mr. B. S. Ci-ilwi'll, of Auckland. Rev. A. H. Colvile performed the ceremony, Mr. N. 'Renaud presiding at the organ. The church was very prettily decorated by the bride's friends. The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr. W. %. Fitzherbert (of Palmerston), looked charming in an ivory-tinted satin, with brocaded satin train, lined with pink ninon, on which was embossed a loveis' knot; decolletage draped in shadow laco. The bridal veil was arranged with mobcap effect, caught in the hair with real orange blossoms. She carried a loyely shower bouquet, and wore an exquisite pearl necklet, with pendant, the gift of the -bridegroom. The bridesmaids were Miss Sybil Fitzherbert and Miss Dulcie Fitzherbert (nieces of the brides), who were robed in dainty pink floral taffetas, with wide tunics caught up with pink silk lovers' knot bows; Tuscan hats, trimmed with moss green velvet ribbon and pink roses. They carried dainty shower bouquets of pink roses, and wore ruby and diamond rings, rifts of the bridegroom. Miss Patricia Fitzherbert (neice of the bride) acted as trainbearer, and very sweet she looked robed in a white muslin and lace troalc of rose-pink silk; white lace Juliet cap. finished in the sides with bunches of tiny pink roses. , and wore a pearl and ruby brooch, the gift of the bridegroom. Mr. Cecil Trevithick supported the bridegroom as best man. while Messrs. L. G. Malon and K. Rutherford acted as groomsmen. AAfter the ceromonv the ridal party drove to the bride's mother's, residence, where the wedding breakfast was held, and the usual toasts honored. The happy couple left in the afternoon en route for Wellington, where the honeymoon is to be spent, the bride's travelling dress being a dainty saxe blue crepe de chine, trimmed with Oriental embroidery; violet colored Dolly Varden hat. trimmed with pink and blue floweTed ribbon.
