SUMMARY AND FORECAST. By Telegraph—Per Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The following is Rev. Bates' weather summary for the past 24 hours: The barometer has fallen fast in the South, and northerly and westerly winds have prevailed, and have increased strong to gale to-day. The weather has been ; cloudy generally, and rain has fallen in the West Coast and southernmost districts of the South Island. Forecast. —Present indications are for Stormy weather, especially in and south- " - wards of Cook Strait. High westerly winds, changing to southerly, after from 16 to 24 hours. Rain is probable genetally, and heavy rain with rivers flooded in Westland; snow on the higher levels, and colder weather following. The barometer is likely to rise in the south in about 1C hours, but fall further in the - north.
