HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. Wellington, November 11. The High Commissioner reports under date London, November 10. — Official. —The Emden was brought into action by the Sydney, driven ashore on fire and has burnt out. THE WESTERN CAMPAIGN. Wellington, November 11. The Prime Minister has received the following from the High Commissioner under date London, November 9:— Official.—Paris reports that the 'Germans renewed the offensive at Dixnmnde and south-east of Ypres. All the attacks were repulsed and progress made in most parts. The enemy has organised its defenco well, and this is making the Allies' adva\co slow. The progress announced yesterday on the Aisne has been maintained. The German attack in Alsace resulted in a distinct victory for the Allies. The Belgians report a slight advance near Nieuport. The enemy's position on the left bank of the Yser has been bombarded by artillery.
ON THE RUSSIAN FRONTIER. The Russian cavalry, in advance of the main armies, is invading Germany and crossing the frontiers of the provinces of Posen and East Prussia. • THE MOST PATIENT PEOPLE MUST SHOW ANNOYANCE AT TIMES: Everybody has their hour of trouble.
