MONTHLY MEETING. | ■The monthly meeting of the .Society of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals' was (held at the Town iHall yeterday. ■ Present: life "Worship the Mayor (ipreSident), Mrs Golvile, Mrs D'Arcy Roberison, Miss Percy Smith, Miss Matthews, Rev. Colville, Messrs Paton, Oowtfield, 'and the secreatry,Mr E. C. Hughes. -The correspondence read included a letter from Mrs Govett (now in IreI land) relating to a donation- of £2 8s .paid in error, a letter from' Mr Beanos (veterinary inspector), and! from "A 'Lover of -Animals." • The inspector, Mr Collins, was present and read his report which was discussed. He waa, directed to examine inio an alleged case of cruelty on a farm on the Oarririgton road, and one at Omata.
The report of Mr Dowsett, the .Society's agent at Waitara, was al.to 'read. ' v
Mr Cutfield was instructed to arrange with the 'liiis owners for affixing' a notice on the 'bus indicating fixed stopping" places. . The resignation of Miss Percy Smith was accepted and Mrs Frank Messenger was elected to the vacancy. ~ Future meetings of the! committee -were fixed for 4.30 instead of 4 p.m.' on the second Thurday of each month.
