DI GAMA'S ENTRY. OBJECTED. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Melbourne, November 10. The V.A,T.C. has rejected thee ntry of Di Gama for Saturday's meeting. The reason is not stated. TURF TOPICS. ■ (By Moturoa). The, acceptances for ulie third day (OaivS Day), of the Canterbury Metropolitan meeting are very numerous, and ■punter may find winners hard to pick. The nine Oaks fillies are a poor lot, but Martins and Court Martial have shown fair form over slicirt courses.
The Canterbury Cup has only attracted four, and of these -the three-year-olds ■have a considerable pull in die weights. It the Derby running is correct, then Balboa may p:\./e dangerous, but .Warstep on Cup running may" not easily be disposed of. The Jockey Club handicap will see Indigo and Pavlova racing over a 'favorable distance, and Kaminohe and Ardent may carry much money in the (Randolph Handicap. Rustic, who beat several good ones at tfhe Poverty Bay meeting, will probably start favorite on th« Suburban Hurdles.
Asterias Bias a big weight in the f-'pring Nursery Handicap, but the opposition, with the exception of Samisen is not very select.
The Otaio Plate will bring solne good horses together, notably -Guiding Way and Oantpoador, who 'have been running well at Riccarton. Considerable .interest will be centred on the doings of Bimeter and Pavlova in the Avon Welter.
