PUKEKURA PARK BOARD.

.MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the above board Was held on Monday night, there being present, Messrs R .Cock (chairman), F. iP. Corkill, 11. Ford, K. C. Hughes, W_ L. Newman. CORIiESPONDENCE. Mr 6. W. Bovett wrote asking if the board would have the pine trees oppof3ite his house on the Clover street entrance removed as they shaded Iris property. , It was decided that the Board eould not comply with the request. Messrs Medley and Ewing wrote stating that they had fixed the rental payable by the Sports Ground Committee to the Board at £25 per year for seven years from, August Ist last year. Mr Corkill moved that the Sports Ground Committee be asked what they proposed to do with regard to the outstanding rent of £So up to (August, 1013, before the Board considered the question of the new lease and rental.

The motion was duly seconded and carried.

Ihe caretaker, Mr W. W. Smith, reported that all work authorised had been carried out. AU gorse grubbing had also been completed. The rough grass and young fern was being mown, l'our days had been devoted to raking and burning rubbish, but the high winds had again caused considerable rubbish. He suggested that the large macrocarpa tice near the tin shed on the sports ground be removed, whereby a much beiter view would be opened out behind it than at present. With reference to the small'bed on the newly sown lawn where the swamp previously existed, he asked if the board would consent to a small rockery thereon with a fountain, 'ihe water-pipe passed nine yards from the pipe, so the expense would be small, lie applied for ten days' holiday, and stated that Mr Robert Old would carefully attend to the work. The five dozen ducks received two months ago, and all the other aquatic fowl in the park were thriving well. The growth of the general veg'etation was very rapid this Reason. The leave of absence a3ked for was gi an ted, and tile recommendations were adopted. GENERAL. A cordial vote oi thanks was accorded Mr Medley for acting as arbitrator over the Sports Committee's rent. 1 A volu of thanks was passed to five anonymous donors for the gift of 25s 3d Accounts were passed for payment. Mr Newman was appointed visitor for tile month.
