Work was rcs'iowd at the liuntly mines this morning with "permit:nl' explosives a suiipl;, of which arru-ed from Aus ralia last week. Fifty men went into Ralph's n.ine, where they ar; engaged principally in clearing away the ecibris resulting from the explosion in September, end about 210 resulting ordinary mining operations in i!he extended mine. The latter found themselves considerably handicapped hy the safety lamp's, which are now eomoulrorily usoii '.hroughout these mines, and eacli of which as about half a candle-, power, giving considerably less illumination tin the old naked light. It is expected thai the output of the mine? will regain normal as the men .became accustomed to the feebler illuminant.
