Walker, Kirkby and Misses Maekay, a bridge and auction bridge party was arangcd in the Kia Ora tea-rooms, while simultaneously a euchre party was held in the Brougham Street Hall, it -having thus to be arranged oil account of the committee being unable to secure the Theatre I!oyal, which is undergoing alterations. New Plymouth High School gave another of their series of card parties in the Girls' High School class rooms wlncn was most enjoyable. GOLDEN WEDDING. On October 20, at their residence, liobsonville, a large number of relatives and friends of Air and Airs Carder assembled to celebrate their golden wedding, among who were Airs. W'al'er, of New Plymouth, sister of tile bride. The aged couple, looking the picture, of g.u»s health, were welcomed in Mower-decor-ated reception rooms, surrounded by seven daughters, one son, and thirteen grandchildren. Refreshments were serv ed in a large, marquee on the lawn. The wedding cake was a beautiful two-tie: production, ornamented with elaborate faneywork. Presentations, consisting of two fine convertible, arm chairs were made to Air and Mrs Gardner by their relatives; also two'adjustable armchairs by the firm of Messrs Carder Bros. A special launch was chartered, on which a most enjoyable trip was made by the wedding party. Each member oi the family wore a beautiful cream rose attached to a gold ribbon, which colors harmonised with the exquisite color scheme. A highly enjoyable dance in the evening concluded a pleasant and memorable day for the family and friends, wdio will long remember the joyful re-union. It is a happy coincidence that Mr. Carder's father also celebrated his golden wedding at IlobsonviUe. in the early days.
