MR JENNINGS AT TAUMARUNUI. Taumai'unni, October °9. Mr W. P. Jenningti, Liberal and Labor candidate for the Taumarunui seat, addressed a meeting last inght. lie complained of unfair treatment b.v tlhe newspapers, and read three apologies for false statements. Tie held that the present prosperity of the country was due to Liberal legislation. lie favored closer settlement, as in Belgium, condemned expensive railway stations while money was needed for the back-bloclts, objected to an irresponsible hoard usurping tile power s of county councils, and promised to support the remission of ren'.s on Cruwn lands under the Bush and Swamp Act, for four or five years, lie gave an illustration of the advantages of cheap money. A vote of thanks and aonfidence in the candidate was carried unanimously.
