THE RUAHINE MISHAP.
SATISFACTORILY EX PLAINED. By Telegraph.—Per Press .association. Wellington, Last Night. The Collector of Customs held a preliminary inquiry concerning the mishap to the steamer Ruahine. The evidence adduced showed that the leak was due to the meat port door not fitting' perfectly, and the packing apparently failing to withstand the weight of water pressing inward. It is understood that the official's consider that no blame is attachable to anyone, and that further inquiry is unnecessary. .Satisfactory progress is being made with the re-eon-ditioning of the cheese that got wet. an 1 re-loading has started. It is expected that the vessel will be able to resume her voyage on Saturday morning.
