FIERCE STORM IN ADELAIDE. Isy cable. —Press Association. —Copyright Adelaide, October 28. ' A fierce storm swept over the city, causing considerable damage to properly. CRICKET AND THE DROUGHT. Adelaide, October 28. Owing to the scarcity of water, the Cricket Association had to sink a well on the oval. At a depth of thirty-five feet a supply of fresh water was discovered. providing 5000 gal'ons an hour. SUICIDE ON A STEAMER. Sydney, October 28. A verdict of suicide was returned at the inquest on Clarke, who was found strangled in his cabin on the Makura when the vessel arrived from New Zealand. The deceased was a clerk : n the employ of the Government at Auckland. llis wife gave evidence that 'he had threatened her with a knife, saying, "The Oermang have taken Sydney. They shan't take you." Three weeks previously he had declared that the Germans were on top of their house wit! a wireless plant.
