WJ33T END OLUJ3. There was a large attendance at the West End green yesterday afteriioon for the opening of the season. The green, considering the recent weather condition's, ivas in good order, but the high and told wind prevailing militated somewhat against the enjoyment of play. The customary match, President v. Bartlett, championship singles, gold medal and inscription on championship shield; and .T. 1). Sole handicap singles, set of 'bowls. Mr. W. J. Penn (president of the Xew Plymouth Club) and Mr. F. H. Jackson (president of tile Fitzroy Club) responded on 'behalf of the visitors, Mr. Penn extending a hearty invitation to those present to attend tine opening of the New Plymouth green next Thursday afternoon.

Mrs. llilj, in accordance with timehonored custom, "threw the jack." and the season was opened.
