Mr and Mts N, Greiner, who have been visiting relatives in Scotland, arc reported to have left for New Zealand by tho Turakina on October 3.
Private cable advice received in Napier from the War Office states that the Lieutenant Algernon M'Lcan, son of Mr. Douglas ■M'Lcan, formerly M.11.R. for Napier, has been wounded in action. A private cablegram received in Hastings reports that Captain Walter Russell, of the Northamptonshire Regimen*, the youngest son hf Ilio late Sir Williams Russell, was killed, in action in France on October 23. In the annual "terms" examinations at Victoria College, Cecil \V. ijuilliam, Ivan W. Weston, ami Athol 11. Wilson. of New Plymouth, kept first year's terms, and Norman V. Little, second year's terms. Little obtained senior and junior first-class passes in botany and practical botany, first-class senior in jurisprudence, and second-class pusses in English language and literature, Latin, and constitutional history. Quilliam obtained a lirst-elass pass in Latin, and a third-class in French and economic history. Weston obtained sc-ond-class passes in mathematics, applied mathematics, and physics. Wilson obtained junior third-class passes in English language and literature, and constitutional history. D. A. Ilarlc obtained lii'sf-class passes in criminal law, torts, and property 11., and second-class in procedure! Misses M. Lciinon and Amy ll.irle obtained junior third-class passes in Latin.
