SPLIT IN AMATEUR KAXKS. By cable. —I'ress Association.—Copyrijjnt ■Sydney October 23. At a meeting ot the Council of tin Xew South Wales Amateur Athletic Association, it was decided by l(i to 11, to secede from the Amateur SportingVcdcration, whereupon Ihe chairman, and secretary of the former body resigned as a protest. The cause of the beeessiou is of long standing. It arose over a federation ruling that all men participating in Rugby League football were professionals, whether money was obtained or not. Amongst the allegations regarding professionalism was that three members of tile Ail-black team were professional rurincr.s. The meeting subsequently discussed the formation of a new body of control, but as the Amateur Athletic Union of Australia and New Zealand is unlikely to recognise siiL'h a body, nothing was done.
