NEW PLYMOUTH SOCIAL NEWS. Rev. F. A. Crawshaw 'has returned from attending the Synod at Auckland. 'Mrs. Matthews and Miss Marshall left last Wednesday for Wanganui. From there they go on to Wellington. Mrs. Beane, Takapau, is the guest of her sister, Mrs. G. Kebbell. Mrs. W. Newman is holiday-making in the South Island.

Rev. A. 11. and Mrs. Colvile, who have l)cen on a visit to Napier and Auckland, on account of the former's health, have returned to New Plymouth. Miss Bertha Mathews is the guest of Mrs. (Dr.) Christie, Wanganui. Tho Misses Itcmpton leave on Tuesday for Whangarei, where they will be the guests of their brother, Mr. Arthur Heiupton. Mrs. W. (A. Gray, with her litle daughter, is visiting her sister, Mrs. Cyril Williams, Tauranga. Mm. 11. Matthews, Hamilton, is on a visit to her people in New Plymouth, on account of the health of her father (Mr. Black). . Airs. Blackley entertained a number of children last Thursday afternoon, in honor of Miss Kathleen Walker, who is leaving shortly for boarding-school, and <iuite a merry time was spent. Victoria League—Last Wednesday, in the Good Templar Hall, the New Plymouth branch of the Victoria League held its first annual meeting, which was an unqualified success, as well as being mo.-t enjoyable. The hall was beautifully decorated with flages and masses of red, white and blue flowers, the handiwork of the president (Mrs. C. 11. Burgess) and her energetic committee.
