Morrison, the Liberal candi- ! date for th e Patca, seat, addressed a meeting in the Nomuunby town hall on Thursday. Thetfe was a good attendance, and Mr. W. F. Free (chairman of tlhe town board)' presided. The speaker dealt with the leading questions of the day and received an attentive hearing. He spoke strongly of ihe action of ,the , present Governwnt in overriding the recomniendatioris of the Royal Oommiissioo, and deciding upon a site for the Opunake railway near Te Rod, instead of the sito recommended by Ae OamI mission, which would have brought' the line within a mile of Nonnanby. He conkfenined ililie Massoy Government .for I withdrawing the subsidy for the British Navy in favor of a local navy. He declared that the Government had not fulfilled ils nromise to reduce taxation and the cost of living. He favored a bare majority on the national licensing question, and 55 per cent on local no- ' license. He opposed the referendum, but | favored itihe Nelson Bible-in-schools sysj torn. A vote of thanks and confidence, also confidence in Sir Joseph Ward, was I carried with enthusiasm.
