SENTENCED TO DEATH.
FOR MURDER OF A (URL. By cable.—Press Association. —Copyright Keceived £2, 10 p.m. Melbourne, October 22. Soro, charged with the murder of Miss Beckett, has been sentenced to deatii. On September 14th a youngi school teacher, named Patricia lieekett, wa,s waylaid and shot dead in the Royal Park. The murderer was an unknown man. 'He fir.nl fivo shots and escaped. A day or two afterwards Antonio Soro, an Italian, was arrested and charged with the murder. Tho accused lodged with Beckett's parents, and formed an affection for her. The police found ihc accused stowed away on a steamer which wa3 about to leave Newcastle
