The official opening of tihe new Presbyterian church takes place on Wednesday afternoon next, On 'Wednesday tfej ? r ic:4> w Misa Jenkins and Mr Leslie Birdling met at the Clifton Ilail to wish them ii'he r oest of good luck in tihe future. Mr Buchanan, on behalf of their friends, presented the 'bride and bridegroom elect with an oak trap and afternoon e.p. tea set, and conveyed "to tihem the good wishes of their many friends. Mr Birdling, responding, ua;id that he and Hi is fitiure wife would always treasure the gift presented to them that eviening.
Mr E. Beckbersinger, who has been on a visit to tlie Oid Country, returned home on Tuesday evening, and received a hieaTty welcome by his many friends. The annual meeting of the Bowling Club it'ook place on Wednesday evening. The statement of accounts showed a debit balance of £lB 18s lid. The following officers were elected for the ensuing season:—President, Mr Jas Rattcnbury; vice-presidents, Mr W. Bent; secretary and treasurer, Mr S. G. Fraser; commhiiee: Messrs. R. Ford, S. Knuekey, W. Andrews, H. iLangman, A. H. Young, S. IVVyHie, J. Croinbie; auditors, Messrs. Andrews and Langman; delegates to the Association, Mr W. Andrews; selection committee: Messrs Ford, Oalder and Andrews. The official opening day waa fixed for Thursday, the 28nd inst
A vote of thanks was accorded the ladies for arranging afternoon hea. during last season. Also the outgoing officers were recorded a vote of thanks.
