A BATCH OF SENTENGE& By Telegraph.—Per Press Association. Wellington, October 14. Six prisoners wore sentenced 'by the Chief Justice, Sir Robert Stout, in the .Supreme Court to-day:. Claude Batt, on two charges, of forgery at Palmeraioii and one chaise of lorgary at Masterton, was sentenced to six montliri' imprisonment on each chargo, the sentences to be concurrent.
Archibald Wilfred Rawles, for breaking, ©leering; and theft aft Stratford, was sentenced to six months' imprisonment. John Johnston, alias. Robert Lemon, with nix previous convictions for various offences, was sentenced lib 18 months' imprisonment on a charge of breaking and entering and theft _at Pailmcrston. Jlorbert Henry Barxington, oni four dharges of breaking, entering and theft at Stratford and Itlwo further charges of theft at Stratford, was sentenced to 12 montta' imprisonment on each charge, tho sentoncus to ba concurrent. Mdward M'Kenna, on three charges 'of forgery and uttering at Hayings, was sentencod to 18 months' imprisonment on each charge, the sentences to be concuxrertt'.
James Little, for assaulting an aged Chinese in Courtenay Mace, roeeiVily, was sentenced 'to two years' ibujMiisontment, to be followed by four yeans' reformative treatment, the Judge remarkthat ihe had acted in u, cowardly and blackguardly manner.
