LONDON WOOL SALES. By cable.—Press Association. —Copyright London, October 11.

At the wool sales, the following prices were realised for the fleece portions of the clips named:—Waterpeak, top 23% d, average 23d; Manawa. 13d and lS'/jd, prd 15y 2 d and W%d, Two Hearts 12d and 10% d. During the series 37,329 bales were catalogued and 34,081 bales were sold.On Saturday, 8829 bale 9 were offered, of which 4127 bales were New Zealand. The sales closed with the prices the highest of the series. Thero was increasingly strong competition on account of the operations of Home manufacturers. All crossbreds made a decisive advance upon opening rates. Shafty merinos were slightly harder, but shott faulty, wasty, and fine-haired wools felt the lack of Continental support and showed a 10 to 15 per cent, decline as compared with July sales. Wheat. —Rather firmer following on an improvement in the American market. The demand is slow. Holders ask 423 6d. Tho wheat and .flour afloat for the United Kingdom Amounts to 1,985,000 bushels, for the Continent, 1,705,000 bushels; Die Atlantic shipments total 838,000 bushels, and Pacilic over 65,000" bushels; the total shipment to Europe is' 1,115,000 .bushels, including India, 91,000.

Hemp.—The market in dull and unchanged. k

Dalgety and Company, Ltd., Wellington, have received the following cablegram from their London oflice, under date Bth instant: —"The wool sales continue animated, except for faulty merinos, which are often 20 per cent, lower. Crossbred lambs are 20 per cent, dearer."

The Bank of New Zealand has receiTed the following cable advice from its London office:—"London wool sales closed very tirm for crossbicds. New Zealand held over nil.
