'Bridge Works,—Since last meeting this* v. ork-had Ijec-n piiniied along and another week should see the second struc-
ture ready for stripping off and filling in. This latter work had bcim rather awkward as the N work Iliad to be done i ndcrueath the, old structure. A service track had also been cut around iNo'. 1 bridge on Opunake-'Stnuford ro.nl ready to take the traffic as soon as thi>i bridge was dismantled. .In connection with this work he secured the services of Mr White for concrete and re-infora.d work at 13s 4d per day. Tiie number of hands engaged on this' work was three, including, tlici foreman. Cr -Maxwell drew the engineer's attention to tjliree places on the Main South road. ißahotu riding, where dangerous boulders required ru.noval.—To be attended to.

Hopkirk's, Hawera. A <pump eould be fitted but would lie too slow for the work required. Until the required pvmp iviio available it was decided to .'if the cart with the best pump procurable, so as tlo have it, remtyi for use as early as possible. 11l reply to n question the engineer stated that the expenditure on the Eltham road this year should not be nea. 1 as great a,j during the past year, as illie load was in li.neh better condition. load c;Ul»eel ny the delay in applying for Kgmont's share of the proposed'loan for making this road and urging the Council to push the madter forward as rapidly as possible, so thai advantage might be taken of the illne weather to lave the work completed, lie pointed out that i.lie road was practically i:ni.possiblo in winter. The chairman stated that the Egmont County Council was not to blame for i.ny delay in the raising of the loan. Any delay was on tha pan, of the Wain ate County. REFUND OF DUTY.

The Taranaki Comity
Council trusted that no objection would j be raised, as it would be a convenience to the ratepayers concerned. In equity | the Taranaki County Council should pay the Kgmont County Council on February I 1, ■915, £4O 3s 7il, half-year's interest j for which rales had been levied. The j Egiuont County Council would then levy ! rates in August for the next year's interest.
This loan was inscribed for twenty-six years, as follows: to()l Gs 3d on February I, 1805, and £1551 2s 5d on February 1, ISUd. It wns i.i'i led hy a special rate of 3 l-3d in the pound on all lands within the special rating area. The chairman -M. i-.-i!- that the Council would have no objection to the transfer. Ah..- onty possible objection would lie that it would increase the total of their inscribed loans. GENERAL.
No notice was taken of an anonymous letter signed by "Eat Pear," who complained against two ratepayers being al- - to run horses or cattle on tiie road. The Clifton County Council wrote offering an Austin grader for sale for £-(0. The offer was declined, as the Council lias a grader. The Opuijake Sawmi'ling Co. forwardMi a cheque for £l6 'ss (id', being royalty on 130,l!Klft. of timber cut during three months ending Aug. 31. The striking of the general rate as passed at last meeting was confirmed. 'ln the Oeo riding iii was resolved to allocate y,d of the rates to the main road and %d to the bye-roads.
Cr. Wil'cox drew the Council's attention to a dangerous bull that had been ■wandering the roads in the vicinity of the Ralmtu township. The, ranger'.s attention will be drawn to the matter.
Accounts amounting to £G!)4 14s 10(1 were passed for payment.
